Stuff.co.nz is teaming up with start-up band The Volunteers to take their music - and their story - to the world.
In a first for the New Zealand media and music industries, the birth of The Volunteers will be chronicled weekly in an online mash-up of documentary footage and cutting-edge Simmonds Brothers animation.
Kapiti Coast-based The Volunteers grew from vocalist and guitar player Elan Mills's 2006 search to put together a new band. Joe Simmonds, Malcolm Taylor, Marliesje Van den Assum, Felicity Wait and Maxine Macaulay were added to the mix and the band was launched in 2007.
Our online "documation" series will track the band's development while highlighting their trademark style of funk, soul and rock and roll. | |
